Kellye Tedder Wins 2nd Place Coach of the Year in DriveCam Program
The Lytx Driver of the Year and Coach of the Year awards honor individuals recognized as the best and safest drivers by organizations currently using the Lytx® DriveCam™ program to improve overall fleet safety.
“Safe drivers don’t just keep themselves and their cargo safe – they help keep roads safe for everyone around them,” said Del Lisk, vice president of Safety Solutions for Lytx, Inc. “These stellar drivers and coaches come from different sectors of the transportation industry, traveling different routes, but they share a common goal of making every journey a safe one.”
The Coach of the Year award honors those who have risen above others in their coaching role, and whose contributions have enhanced the overall safety of their organization, by helping their drivers develop and improve their safe driving skills.
How the Winners Were Chosen
Lytx received approximately 120 Driver/Coach of the Year nominations. An Awards Committee consisting of 6 members of Lytx with extensive backgrounds in fleet safety, as well as the DriveCam Program, convened on multiple occasions during the process to review and discuss the submissions. A final meeting occurred on January 13th, 2016 to determine 1st, 2nd and 3rd place award winners from each of six different industry category. Decision-making was based on the following elements. These are not necessarily listed in their order of weighting during the decision-making process:
- 2015 DriveCam program data including triggered events, risky events, coachable events, total risk points, risky behaviors, speed violations
- Lytx analytics – a review of other 2015 other data using our proprietary analytics
- Overall quality of submission – The quality and completeness of each response
- Information about driving history including prior collision history, traffic citations, number of miles driven and other provided data
- Prior accomplishments such as safe driver awards, employee of the month etc.
- Level of commitment to safety and contributions to his or her community based on statements from the submission.
Kellye Tedder was chosen as 2nd Place Coach of the Year in the “Trucking – For Hire” category and will be receiving a monetary prize of $500.
A representative from Lytx forwarded this statement, “Kellye Tedder was chosen by our panel as the 2nd place Coach of the Year winner for the “Trucking – For Hire” group. Everyone had an opportunity to review her history and personal statement. We had a fantastic group to review, and Kellye was an excellent submission. We were all really happy to select her as the 2nd place winner.”
Johnathan Marshall, Director of Safety at P&S Transportation said, “Prior to hearing this news, P&S Transportation had already requested for Kellye to fly to San Diego to take part in the upcoming Lytx Users Group Conference to be held Feb. 22- 24, 2016. This decision was made by P&S in recognition for her efforts in making the P&S DriveCam program successful. It was a pleasant surprise to be informed that Kellye will be receiving 2nd place in the Coach of the Year award out of all companies participating in the program, and that she will be honored during the Users Conference.”
Lytx DriveCam™ programs help prevent incidents, reduce injuries and save lives by combining video with predictive analytics, real-time driver feedback and coaching, empowering fleets to identify and correct the driving behaviors that lead to collisions, before they occur. A May 2014 Virginia Tech Transportation Institute study reported that more than 800 lives could potentially be saved each year using video-based driver safety technology, and that the Lytx DriveCam program alone has the potential to prevent more than 25,000 commercial vehicle collisions and nearly 40,000 injuries annually.
